“Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars” takes on the couples’ sex lives in a way that is enlightening, in the latest episode “Puppet Masters”. Where does the amount of time spent romancing fit into their overall time together? Hello, Tara Reid and Dean May. Also on tap is the follow up with Memphitz, who was forced to leave the camp to make a court date. RECAP posted below.
When you have careers that take one partner away from the other for long periods of time, can there be a satisfactory sex life? That’s the question that gets answered with the help of the boot camp counselors Jim and Elizabeth Carroll, and rather than it being something that the stars shy away from tackling, they freely engage in the exercise.
That’s what you’re watching in the sneak peek video clip posted below. Tara and Dean are seemingly untroubled about admitting how sex fits into their lives together. Notice who stands in judgment of their fellow participants; it’s the usual suspects of Brittish, Toya and Lisa. While they are all at the camp for significant problems in their relationships, those ladies are very quick to throw shade.
One of the more cringe-worthy exercises on “Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars” is role-playing with puppets, acting out a scene in the bedroom. Each partner takes a puppet and without consultation prior to their time as puppeteer, they begin to demonstrate what a typical sexual interlude is like with the other.
While the couples might feel shamed, that’s not the purpose of the exercise, but don’t tell that to Tara Reid. The counselors get the couples to be specific about what’s lacking or wrong in the bedroom. That’s the thing about this show, there is frank talk about sex and its importance in maintaining a healthy relationship. Tara Reid flees the scene, which isn’t the first time she’s refused to participate in all the fun.
RECAP
At the conclusion of the episode, Dean May is heard saying “I’m so sick of lying”. That is the state of affairs on the show for Tara Reid and Dean. If he and Tara are lying, picking and choosing what drills to participate in, they aren’t taking the boot camp seriously. Questions arose among the other couples about why they are on the show, with someone questioning whether they are a couple at all.
They successfully avoided the sex puppet exercise, although they participated in what came prior to that, which identified the issues in their sex life as a couple. When asked to expand on that and demonstrate how to communicate with other about their needs and wants, Tara bolted from the room.
She had been told by Dean to say she feared puppets, but when Elizabeth questioned Dean about Tara’s absence he said she had a stomach ache, as if he were a kid covering for a pal in school. He eventually joined Tara in their room after becoming uncomfortable watching the others use the puppets for their intended purpose.
Prior to Dean getting there, she had been on the phone with one of her talent reps, complaining about what she was asked to do, mis-identifying the drill as “having sex with puppets”, instead of what it was. What this couple has yet to understand is that the entire place is wired for sound and Jim was watching and listening via closed circuit. Tara told her people that it would hurt her reputation if she went further and declared that the whole experience was a nightmare.
When confronted by Jim, who went up to the bedroom, Tara lied again and defended her puppet fear, lumping it in with clowns and dolls. She’s just not that good an actress to pull it off, and of course, Jim knew the truth. When Dean joined them, they were coaxed into getting downstairs and working it through if puppets were eliminated; in other words, calling their bluff.
What transpired was more of what we’ve gotten from the couple the entire season. They blamed their busy lives and schedules that have them out-of-town at different times, claiming that their sex life, while not constant, is enough for them. They couldn’t or wouldn’t go into any specifics.
It’s clear they never saw the show, because the sex puppets are a regular item on the menu of role-playing exercises. It’s also apparent they aren’t ready to do the work and expose their personal truths to the nation via television. Is it just a paycheck for them, or a marketing tool to keep their names circulating in the industry? What do you think?
What was up for the rest of the couples?
Toya and Memphitz said a tearful goodbye as he left to fly back east to face aggravated assault charges. Toya knows that if the charge sticks he could do time and she mourned the timing, since they were plowing through their issues.
Michelle and Cody bragged about their sex life, leading the inquisitive ladies Brittish and Lisa to openly wonder who that could be, considering their arguments can be day-long affairs. They also agreed to a boot camp divorce, which Michelle says is still in effect.
Lisa and Adam were at the same place as always, with him wishing he didn’t have to talk about anything and Lisa pulling him through. Looks like his doomsday fears don’t inhibit him in the bedroom. It’s just an odd situation all around.
Brittish and Lorenzo took the cake as far as brutal honesty, when Lorenzo admitted his ideal sex life with his wife would be twice-a-day. It would also include her getting into acrobat-like poses. Her ideal was four times a week. Lorenzo’s male member was described in detail by Brittish as “huge” and the ladies didn’t so much envy her as wonder if she could take it more than the amount she already is.
It was a mixed bag episode but an eye-opening one.
