The participants in season 5 of “Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars” have reached the dreaded role-playing exercise in which the couples navigate a canoe, with one of them giving the directions and the other, who is rowing, blindfolded. Here’s a fun fact we’ve learned from previous seasons, the couple who completes all tasks first, doesn’t necessarily “win”.
Say what? Yes, this isn’t a race against the clock. This is marriage boot camp, not a game show, although some might take issue with that opinion. Jim and Elizabeth Carroll, who create the exercises and run the camp give the blue ribbon to the couple who demonstrates the best communication skills and the ability to work together with as little turmoil as possible.
This is when the Carrolls see if the most troubled couples have absorbed anything from their time at boot camp. If there’s any hope of getting beyond the same old arguments, this is the time, right in the canoe, when progress can be made. Speaking of the same old stuff, check out the video preview clip posted below of Lisa D’Amato and Adam Friedman rehashing their core issue, as Tara Reid and Dean May comment. What makes them feel so superior to everyone else at the camp?
Wrapped around that communication test is the season-long secret on “Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars”. Someone leaves before it’s over and that someone will be revealed. You can hear what Adam said at the end of his wife’s rant in the preview video. “I don’t know what else to do”, he says. Will Lisa or Adam decide it’s not worth continuing with the extreme marriage counseling?
Your first thought has to be about Toya or Memphitz. After the revelation that her husband feels controlled and hemmed in by marriage, it’s up to Toya if she wants to proceed under those circumstances. There’s love there, but two people who want different things. Get the popcorn ready.
